Who are

us?

“The dragonfly symbolizes the wisdom of transformation and adaptation. It is born in water and then flies through the air. Its bright colors are beautiful and change over time. It symbolizes for me the capacity that we all have to progress to arrive at the best of ourselves and to feel light. SOS Libellule comes from this reflection. With a little help, anything is possible! »Elisa Baldet

My journey

I have been immersed in linguistic and cultural differences since I was a child. I grew up in two languages, French and Italian, and I was lucky enough to travel all over the world. This has certainly contributed to my curiosity about the languages that unite us and about language in general.

Language, non-verbal, oral and written, is at the heart of all communication and allows us to express ourselves, to understand others, in short to flourish. However, it is not that natural! This is a learning process that required listening, attention, adaptation, and a lot of trial and error during our childhood.

For some children, this exercise takes more time than others, but it is accessible to all. This is what I want to convey with SOS Libellule.

Before training and starting a career in language stimulation and animal therapy, I worked for 18 years in the field of communications. I have advised and trained entrepreneurs and personalities on their speeches and public messages.

I then worked as director of activities at the retirement home Les Jardins d'Italie (Retirement selection).

And then I took the path of teaching. I taught Italian to children at the PICAI school in Montreal.

I did substitute work in elementary school, among other things in language-type classes, as a teacher and as a specialized educator, in the Laurentians.

Currently, in addition to my clinic and mobile services, I offer tutoring and language stimulation to children with learning and adaptation difficulties, at the Garage à musique, one of the expert centers of community social pediatrics from the Dr Julien Foundation.

I am also a coordinator and teacher at the Institut de Zoothérapie du Québec-International (IZQI).

I am inspired by the extraordinary work of professionals who make a real difference in the lives of children and people with special needs, such as social pediatrician Dr Gilles Julien and speech therapist Stéphanie Jobin (Fondation Dr Julien), as well as zootherapist Guylaine Normandeau (IZQI), from whom I have the chance to learn and advance.

My mother tongues are French and Italian, I also speak English and I understand Spanish.

Language stimulation agent

As a language stimulation agent, I like to offer warm and adapted services to each child who encounters language challenges, in order to:

to equip them and develop their capacities, to strengthen their confidence, motivation and curiosity, to help them in their learning and educational progress,

in order to reassure and support parents.

Zootherapy technician

As a Zootherapy technician, I use adapted relationship-help and communication techniques to soothe, stabilize or improve a condition, according to a most meticulous and respectful protocol.

The animal that accompanies me during the sessions - well chosen and trained - is a remarkable mediator to come into contact with the child or the person, to create positive exchanges based on confidence and without any judgment. It promotes the development of a bond of attachment and good humor. I have always been passionate about the human-animal relationship.
